That could have happened to anyone, I'm surprised this is the first time someone died. Even if she seen it coming, some are so fast you can't move. The netting above the glass sounds like a low cost fix.

Columbus players plan to wear the initials of Brittanie Cecil on their helmets for the rest of the season. Brittanie died Monday after a slap shot struck her at a Blue Jackets game Saturday night. The team held a moment of silence before Wednesday night’s game against Minnesota and will create a fund in the girl’s memory.
Jacket's coaches didn't yell at their player last night, particularly Espen Knutsen, whose shot was deflected by a Flames defenseman and hit the girl in the head.
Jacket's coach said Knutsen is a changed man.
“You can just tell he’s not his regular self,” King said. “Usually, he’s quite cheerful, quite outgoing. Today, he was very, very deep in thought the whole day.”
In post game interviews, Knutsen did not taklk about the tragedy.

I'm glad to hear the Jackets are a classy organization.

Actually, I'd like to see the organization step up and give them some money, or pay for the arraingements. It's probably not gonna happen though as it would set an expensive precident.
Wing fan; closet av's fan hater!!
Instead of paying, I wouldn't be surprised if the Blue Jackets set up a fund of some kind in the girl's name.
Yup, this has been done and was announced at the game last night.Originally posted by Cane Says
