Paul was one of my favorite players...
I hadn't followed him much recently, but I know his game was 90% speed... did he lose some of his wheels?
What the heck happened to Paul Coffey?? He just disappeared and I can't believe NOBODY has picked him up.

Let's go PENS!
"Our eyes were as big as saucers watching Lemieux do whatever he wanted out there.'' -- Atlanta coach Curt Fraser.
I loved watching him for his short stint in Carolina, and he was a huge influence on one of brightest young stars, David Tanabe. He speaks VERY highly of Coffey. I was really hoping that he would stay on as a defensive coach for the Canes. I think that his time was just up. Boston gave him a big $ contract (I think) and then he did not meet their expectations. I wish the best for him, he was truley one of my favorite skaters to watch in the open ice.
Wow....I didn't even realize how long it had been since I had seen Coffey around!! I loved him in Edmonton!!!!! He was real exciting to watch.
He's retiring tommorrow... here's the link

Oh wow....I hope he does not dissappear completely from hockey,
I think he really was a great player...
RANGERS ALL THE WAY!!!!
Paul Coffey was forced to retire by the league due to the fact that he could no longer use Ray Bourque's number. I wish he would come back and take Bourque's records. I hate that guy. It's funny, Coffey's numbers are right there with Pork and where was his fanfare? He just dissappeared and Pork won't go away.
Yeah, I see where you're coming from. I was a big Paul Coffey fan too.Originally posted by wingwop

I think part of the Bourque "mystique", was all the drama surrounding his winning a cup before retiring. Coffey already had a handfull of rings.
Plus, Coffey was a lot more one-dimensional. He didn't have the defensive skills of Bourque.
