    New rules?

i don't know if anyone has been talking about the new rules the owners are talking about today in Florida, no red line, no touch icing, Hurry-up faceoffs, No-touch icing, moving the nets back, larger nets and a larger ice surface.
    what are your thoughts.
Me, i don't like thee no touch icing, i think it takes away from the possibility of a fast skater getting a one on one.

    What about y'all?

Here's a comment about the red line removal

"We're not going to support taking out the red line at all. We think it turns the game into a tennis match and peoples' heads are on a swivel. There's virtually no hitting and no sustained forechecking. People have to be very cautious. What they saw in Salt Lake City was long passes tape-to-tape. Well, that was the best 20 players in the world from each country. We have defencemen of our team who can't make that pass. We see this every night in college hockey and I think it's a disaster." -- Canucks GM Brian Burke

Hmmmm, Interesting. I was all for the removal of the red line until I read that. I also dont like the no touch icing.

I think a larger net, and moving the nets back is stupid. Whats the point of moving the net back anyway?

I like the Hurry up faceoffs, hopefully they can impliment that in some way.(cant see that ever working though)

How much bigge do they think the nets need to be anyway, as big as soccer nets? and there is no way they could get a larger ice surfacce approved, think of all the $$ that would cost the arenas, and that cost my friends would be pased on to us, the ticket holders

Two rules i'd *really* like to see implement is the hurry up face-off and BRING BACK THE FRIGGIN TAG UP RULE!!!!!!

Eliminating the red line and moving to the International rink size is just not possible in the NHL. Buildings and arenas are already built, period.

The Tag up rule enables players already inside the offensive zone before the puck crosses the blue line to peel back and touch the blue line to become onside. This eliminates more whistles and keeps the play moving.

I think that would be an excellent rule to reinstate

The nest move I would like to see the NHL make is only limit the league to 6 teams

That's an even better idea. I couldn't agree more with the tag up rule. Hell, when we're playing we all practice the tag up rule. I think it's the RIGHT way. I'm not a huge fan of the red line removal. I agree that it would further separate the good from the bad teams. As far as making the net larger, I don't think they should do that. When younger guys start scoring more goals, and getting records they'll always be tainted in my book.

of course you can't forget the 10 second rule to get the puck across center ice nor can you forget back court violations.
