    Mark Messier Is Out!...

Well what do you say P.J., should Mark start to think of retirement now??...Or am I the only one thinking about this??...He's really up there in age, injured, and definitely not able to elevate the play of the Rangers like he used to...I say he should think about it and go out without looking like an average player rather than the great player he was like Gretzky did...But I'm sure with the season in it's final stretch we definitely wont' hear anything about retirement even if he was to consider it...

I think that after this season, he should call it quits. He can still be an effective player, but his body doesnt seem to be functioning properly.

I would still love to see him take a run at Gordie's point total, I think he needs like 60 more or something.

And as I said in that other thread, I think he could be a good coach!

I read that Messier said he does not want to retire and that this injury only makes him want to come back for more hockey next year. messier is a great player and i would not want to see him look like some old hack trying to live off past accomplishments.

Yeah that's basically what I'm talking about too...

Not to take anything away from what the guys done in his career, but it's been time to go for a while. It's sad to see the great ones hang around. All the young people wont associate them with former greatness. Instead they'll be remembered as "Old Tractors"!! I think the people who are close to him in the record books keep him going. Guys like Yzerman and Hull. I think both of those players are gonna be around a little while after Messier's gone and they'll finish ahead of him for points.
