Jayman, being a Montreal fan in the early 90's, it was tough as hell when they would meet in the playoffs and I'd have to watch Andy Moog stand on his head and eventually Montreal would bow out.

But that was a long time ago and I have since realized how GREAT those Bruin teams were. Cam Neely was one of the greatest players of all time. Next to Phil Esposito, there was probably never a better player in front of the net.

Now a days, athough still not my favorite team, I have a huge anount of respect for the Bruins. I think that if they keep it together, in the next couple of years, they maybe the team to beat. Joe Thornton has all the makings to be Cam Neely II.

So I agree with FLII ME, they'd probably be my 3rd favorite behind Montreal, Buffalo.

Joe Thornton should turn out to be an amazing player. Now if we could only convince Ray to come out of retirement....

Lapointe plays it safe

Right wing Martin Lapointe was dismissed from the ice by Ftorek midway through yesterday's workout. Lapointe, who tweaked his balky hamstring during practice Saturday, is questionable for tomorrow night.

''I just kicked him off because the ice was getting rougher and if you get a little tired, then you may have a problem later on,'' said Ftorek.

Lapointe said he would love to get back in the lineup after missing the last four games.

''It's still there,'' said Lapointe, referring to the discomfort. ''They want to be careful with me. That's why I came off early, to go in the weight room to strengthen it and stretch it. I'm trying to play [vs. the Islanders] but if it stays the same or there's no improvement, I probably won't play.''

Stock not rising

Ftorek said he's probably going to keep P.J. Stock on the shelf a little longer. Stock suffered a broken facial bone during a fight with Buffalo's Rob Ray Feb. 5. Stock has been practicing and is wearing a face shield but it's difficult for an enforcer to do that in a game. ''I don't believe he's ready to go yet,'' said Ftorek. ''I think he's OK if he has his shield on, but I don't want to take any chances with him right away. We'll see how that goes. I know he's negotiating [to go back in], but I don't think he's doing very well at it.''Grahame said she's doing fine

Goalie John Grahame was back at practice after missing a day to monitor how his mother, who became ill in Denver, was feeling.

Trade winds were swirling in Salt Lake City recently. It has been speculated that the Bruins will send forwards Rob Zamuner and P.J. Axelsson to Anaheim for defenseman Jason York and forward Marty McInnis. The contract of Axelsson, who is making $825,000, is up at the end of the season. McInnis is in the first year of a three-year deal that is paying him $1.5 million this year and $1.75 million each of the next two. Zamuner and York both are finishing the first year of three-year pacts at $2 million per.
