Belarus defeats Sweden??

What the hell did I just watch?? I'm kinda happy that the underdogs did it, but that sets up team canada for a by-week in their pool. Sweden is GONE!!

Canada still has to beat Finland, and after watching the Finns play a solid defensive game against the Russians, there are no guarantees.

Besides, Belarus might be the Cinderella team of the tourney!

I don't know about that. I'm liking the canadian pool better than ours. We have to face the winner of Czech / Russia after Germany and let's face it nothing can be taken for granted anymore this olympic season!! You've got Finland and Belarus then the gold. I like your chances better.

To be honest, I think Canada will convincingly beat the Finns. I did however give the Swedes a lot more credit then what just happened. If Canada doesn't get a rise out of this and take advantage of this opportunity, then Quinn and company better start looking for work (forget about blaming the media, boys). Canada, now, has no excuse not to be in the Gold medal game.

My hope for Team USA is that Russia wins their game against the Czechs. Hasek is not the goalie you want to face in a one game winner takes all.

I agree, the other advantage is that Russia's defense is much more goal friendly than the Czech's team. Against Russia, it'll be a shoot out with the US.

Just incredible. The way Sundin was playing, I never would have predicted this huge upset.

Well, this certainly paves the was for Canada to get to the Gold Medal game. I just can't imagine Belarus playing well again after such an emotional win.

Canada will bury them.

Though I am a Canada fan, I expect them not to take Belarus for granted. Now warranted, they did get blown out on several occassions, but still ALWAYS expect the unexpected. I really think Gretzky's speech sent a message to the Canadian players.

It will be a USA vs CANADA final
