Dude, the Canes are 10 points up on Washington and every other team in the SouthEast has decided to take this season off. I haven't seen a division in this sorry a shape since the old S'Norris days when Toronto went to the sweet sixteen with a mere 53 points (a league record low).
The Canes do not only have a playoff spot this year, they have the third spot pretty much all sowed up.

Granted whoever wins this division will be the 3rd seed and only one team from the Southeast will make the playoffs, but nothing is wrapped until its wrapped. The Caps have 2 games in hand and are notorious for late season hot streaks. The Canes are struggling offensively worse than they normally do and have some serious injury problems right now.
