Patrick Roy *not* playing the Olympics

Apparently Roy feels he needs the rest and won't be part of the Canadian Olympic team.

    Story here:

So it's Brodeur vs. Cujo. Somehow I like Joseph's chances between these two.

I hope they stick Brodeur in net...after all I wont be rooting for them.

If they were smart though they would go with Cojo, the better all around goalie.

Great! that means no one will be beating the tirds out of any mormon chicks over in Utah.

    Gotta go with Cujo.

What about Belfour? Not that I like that moron either.

The names i'm hearing mention as contenders for the goaltender for Team Canada are:

Curtis Joseph, Martin Brodeur, Ed Belfour, Sean Burke and Roberto Luongo.

Heck, the way Osgood is playing this year, I thought he would at least get some consideration.

An article in the Detroit Free Press last weekend did a breakdown of goaltenders and thought Martin Brodeur should get the nod for the Olympic team over Cujo. Their reason? Cujo has never won anything big and doesn't seem to handle pressure games well.

    Brodeur not being considered?

Article in Canoe about a rumor written by a New York Post Typist

The Post article quoted a high-ranking official with the Canadian team saying the braintrust did not consider Brodeur's strongest asset -- handling the puck -- to be vital on an international-sized rink.
I tried searching the Post's website, but I couldn't find the article, and since we are talking about the Post here, I'd take this rumor with a large dose of salt.

I posted a topic on Team Canada Twist; anyhow, espn insider is saying Roy walked away because he wasn't named the outright started. I know the guy is a great goalie and yes one of the best of all time (as much as I hate the jerk). But I don't think he'll ever amount to the player he thinks he is.
