"One of the factors in reaching this decision is the fact that Mr. Havlat was assessed supplementary discipline on three occasions during a two-month period in 2003-04 including a two-game suspension for a kicking incident," Colin Campbell, the NHL's executive vice-president and director of hockey operations, said in a statement.
The incident occurred at 3:53 of the second period when Havlat kicked Gill in the groin.
I can't believe I missed Coach's Corner on Saturday... Don must have been champing at the bit!
But already, the Sens apologists at the Ottawa SUN have their spin going.

It's not his background to drop the gloves and fight -- and Chris Neil, Brian McGrattan or Zdeno Chara aren't always going to be close enough to step in for him -- so Havlat's going to have to use whatever means he has to create himself some room.
That said, he's probably going to wind up with a 3-5 game suspension for this latest bit of dirtiness. But sooner or later, opponents are bound to stop taking liberties with him.
Right, he's too wimpy fight for himself, so he takes the cowards way out and goes for the cheap shot. You just know if that Domi or Bertuzzi had done this, the article would have been spun around 180 degress on why this bum should be banned from the NHL.
Ah yes, Hockey's back baby!
