    Reasoner

    UNPLANNED DETOUR

Centre Marty Reasoner, who has not been able to skate for a couple of days because of swelling in his right knee had some fluid drained on Friday.

Reasoner tore meniscus in the knee and fractured his left ankle when he slid into the rink boards in Toronto on Nov. 8.

It has been the knee that has been slowing his recovery.

"It's frustrating. You feel like you're going in the right direction, then this, but (trainer Ken Lowe and Dr. Reid) both said it's to be expected, that there will be good days and bad days," said Reasoner, who will stay off skates today then get back out on Sunday.

"Obviously I'd hoped to be back by now but hopefully by taking some of the fluid out, this will be the corner I need to turn so I can push it to the point where I can start playing," Reasoner said.

    STILL A SPECTATOR

It's one step forward and two back for Oiler centre Marty Reasoner, whose broken left ankle is fine with a pin in it, but his right knee continues to get a fluid buildup after surgery to repair cartilage damage.

"Every time I skate it blows up on me," said Reasoner, who was originally hurt Nov. 8 in Toronto.

It appears that Reasoner's injury is more serious than the team originally thought Fluid was drained from his right knee on Friday and he went home last Sunday. Is there a possibility that Reasoner would require more surgery if this continues?
