The New York Rangers have been disciplined for unleashing the dogs in the violent waning moments of Saturday's loss to Columbus.

Hockey's highest court ruled on Monday on two fronts. New York Rangers tough guy Krysztof Oliwa was given a five-game suspension and coach Bryan Trottier was suspended two games for their part in a brawl Saturday night in Columbus, Sportsnet has learned.

Let's go PENS!
"Our eyes were as big as saucers watching Lemieux do whatever he wanted out there.'' -- Atlanta coach Curt Fraser.

What happened? I didn't see it, nor read about it.
LET'S GO HURRICANES!!!
Well, I think the Rangers were a bit pissed about Shelley. Purinton tried to get him to fight, but Shelley refused. Then he jumps Malakhov from behind(for the second time). So the next Face off was where the three Ranger tough guys went out there.
Oliwa had no intent on winning the face off, and gave Grant Marshal a couple good wacks to the head. Them two square off(pretty good fight), then McCarthy bloodys Wright's face. They were just trying to have some fun...geez. No suspensions were needed![]()

schoenfeld on trottier:
"Working in the job I had the last few years (as a TV analyst), the word out of New York was that the Rangers never stick up for each other, that they allow the team to get pushed around," Schoenfeld said. "They have a coach now that's making a stand and he has been
reprimanded for it. We accept that, but I think people should recognize that this coach is making a statement that the Rangers are not a team that's going to be pushed around under his watch, and I think that's a pretty important statement to make."
