    Roller Hockey?

OK, who has roller blade skates? Getting tired of the old nature trail bike path, and playing hockey with the kids gets boring after a while. I have one net that we use and it's usually free to play if you can find a good area. Dodge Park is the only one I know of that's enclosed with a fence, and you really don't even need skates if you don't have any. All you should need is shin pads, maybe elbow pads if you fall, and a stick. (OK, a helmet if Vince plays.) But if you're interested, post it. Since it's free, you don't need to worry about the "Hell yeah, I'll be there" lame-o's not showing up! (Just kidding, I was guilty of that!) We could do it on a weekend morning b4 the park gets full. Daylight would be the best to play in. Any takers??

Yeah, I'd be all for that if I haven't been working until 10:00 every night for the past 2 weeks!!! I can't commit to that, I'm working every Saturday starting at 7:00 until God knows when, and I'm not sure even I would give up my only day (Sunday) to play hockey. I don't have much left in the tank come Sunday, besides, I have lawn duty as usual... GOD LET IT RAIN!!!!!

I'd prolly be up for something like this. But Saturday afternoons this time of year are usually taken up by car-related activities.

I have two nets to bring, and a couple asphalt/concrete pucks.

I'd definetly like to watch - but I don't think I could get involved in roller hockey, until I can skate on "ice skates" well first.

Who's up for renting the ice for an hour this month?

Hey Tom, don't it hurt when you get hit with a concrete puck?
I thought they used street hockey balls. Anyway Matt called last weekend to see if we were playing last saturday. He told me he plays roller hockey at Sports Forum at 15 mile and Harper, the old Skateland. Chris, you don't have to skate, in fact when I play goal, I'd rather be in shoes instead of skates. What was the plan for renting the ice?

    LOL@Ken!

They're plastic pucks with balls in 'em for use on concrete/asphalt. I like 'em better than the standard ball that some people use. Easier to control.

Playing at a roller-hockey rink costs about as much as on ice. Personally, I'd rather spend the money on ice instead. If we do this roller thing, we should just go to a park with tennis/b-ball courts.

Hey Tom, I know they are plastic, but they still hurt! I think you would need goalie gear to stop those pucks! The balls are easier to roof into the net. I agree with the park play, save the money for the ice. I think Saturday or Sunday mornings would be cool, that way you don't lose the day for the important things such as the car stuff. Just a matter of when people want to roll out of bed.
Is 9 or 10am too early? The tennis courts are a great idea. There are some near Crocker and 16 mile at a school which has a smooth surface.

Well if you're looking for an extra pilon (I don't have rollerblades), I should be able to get my ass out of bed most Sunday mornings around 9 am.

/me slips back into lurk mode before anyone notices I posted.

The games with all the kids in the apartments goes on when ever its not quiet hot enough for the pool. If you're in the neighborhood, come on over and show them how to play! Still trying to stop the golf swing slap shots and fighting is only allowed on the grass.
