Another milestone and piece of hardware for a fantastic season. This enable home-ice throughout ALL of the playoffs :)

In years past i'd call this the kiss of death, the Presidents Trophy - but 2 out of the last 3 years the Stanley Cup winning team has also won the Presidents Trophy (Dallas and Colorado). The Wings last won the Presidents Trophy back in 95 (lost to NJ in the Stanley Cup Finals) and 96 (Lost to Colorado in the Western Conference Finals).

Lets keep resting those veterans down the stretch - Yzerman will be back next week and then it's Playoff time!!! :)

No telling who's gonna wind up in the two through eight spots though. It's turned into a disaster. That's good though!! I like it even more since we're all set!! We're gonna pull some tough competition the first round though.

The eighth seed in the West won't be decided until the last game of the season. Meaning the Wings will face a hungry team going into the first round. I wouldn't be surprised if the Wings lost the first game of the first round against whatever team they face, since the Wings won't be as hungry at the point.

Mind you if the team that faces the Wings doesn't win the first game, can you say, "Sweep"? I thought you could.

BTW the above does no way imply that I think the Wings won't make it out of the first round. On the contrary, the Wings will at the very least make the conference finals, if not take the whole damn thing. Though, I think the Wings may need a couple of games to get hungry.
