You know those annoying pop up ads?

We did some free writing in English today, and I decided to write about those internet pop up ads:

What’s with those annoying internet pop up ads? I mean, when someone’s playing a
game they don’t want to apply for a new Visa (unless, of course, they are playing the
let’s apply for a new Visa game)!
And when I’m checking out my horoscope, I don’t want to know the name of a pill that
will increase my sexual desire. Umm, eww.. that stuff is for old people, like Bob Dole
(that and Pepsi).
So why do ‘they’ do this all of the time? Simple. Every one out of ten people will say
“Ooh! Hehehe that monkey is waiting for me to zap him, how cute *click*”!
I (a non monkey zapper) will just have to suffer, I suppose.

One thing that everyone needs to understand is that sometimes a site has to do what it has to do to remain afloat. If that involves implementing advertisements (which we will have to do here sooner or later) then so be it. I mean, if a site is free for you to use, someone else still has to pay for the service to keep it free for you to use.

Pop up ads are more "in your face" so they generally have a better payout and are more effective than a standard ad banner. Sometimes that's what a site needs to stay in operation. Advertisements on a site do not pay out like they used to, belive me.

And just because you don't want a Visa doesn't mean that someone else doesn't either. :)

Betcha didn't put that in your essay in English class! ;);)

And just because sites need them doesn't mean the people who run the sites like them either. On the contrary, with another site that we run, we hate the fact that we have to use them. We hate them as much as anyone else. No, really. :)
