admist all the hoopla of weight becoming a blue, we seem to have forgotten that we have a great team here. We will come out this season, we will kick the northwest divisions ass(aside from Colorado maybe), we will ease into the playoffs...don't expect the cup though. But we are a team to watch, everyone will be afraid when they see their playing our Edmonton Oilers.
GO OIL!!!!

only if Smyth can lead the team.. they have alot of good young players.. and they need to make poti happy cause he could be big

Yes i agree....Smyth will be a big factor, but we have a few natural leaders on the team besides him...Smith, Staios, among others. Poti will be a big factor in our upcoming season if we get him signed no doubt. Although i feel that he's asking for too much at the moment. either which way i just hope we sign him, or trade him for another young stud defencmen who will prove to be just as valuable down the road.

Hey Comrie...just remember if the Oilers make the playoffs (which they should) they'll probably be bounced by the Stars. :p Sorry...had to go there.

The playoffs wouldn't be the same without these two teams meeting in the playoffs. It doesn't matter which round. Hopefully one of these days it will be in the latter rounds. Pretty good rivalry with these two teams I'd say.

I totally agree about the rivalry between these teams. When they meet in the playoffs those are some of the hardest hitting physical games I've seen. As a matter of fact I believe the only reason the Stars got smoked last year when they did was because the Oilers beat the h*ll out of them so badly physically.

that's exactly the way i feel, these two teams have a great rivalry especially in the playoffs, we took it to them last year physically and it took the toll when they finally took us out and went on to St.Louis. The playoffs wouldn't be complete without this matchup, but i do hope it comes later in the playoffs and with the result we had in 97:)

:D I believe this rivalry is better than the rivalry with the Flames. Sorry Flames fans.

the flames rivialry has more history behind it though, it's always great to see our southern neighbours get their ass kicked by our Oilers:) I'll always consider flames/oilers one of the greatest rivalries in nhl history. Even if the flames don't have much talent, more often then not they always show up against us.

I think that your two teams definitly had the best series last year. Both teams were just killing each other physically, great to watch. Hopefully Dallas and Edmonton will meet again this year.

That's what we wing fans want to see, beat the hell out of each other. Now if we could get San Jose and Dallas to do the same.

Edmonton is a good team and possibly the funnest to watch. Mayor McCheese up there better get printing more monopoly money though, they gotta start re-signing their stars. Who's next Ryan Smyth?

I was more pissed to see Guerin go than Weight.

I don't think Smyth will be the next to go...i imagine it to be someone we least expect.Smtyh is an alberta boy, and i'm damn sure he loves playing for us. By all means i'm leaglly dead (ask and i'll tell) by this post.....but who says the dead can't have their opinion.
