Explain to me how you read the odds - like what over/under means?

I'm looking at the Las Vegas lines right now and can't make heads or tails of some of the stuff on there

Over under is another bet. If the over/under is 5.5 that means the line is for 5.5 goals to be scored in the game. You can bet over, which means if 6 goals or more are scored you win. Or you could bet under and if 5 or less are scored you win. Usually on over/ under they put the .5 to eliminate the "push". Of course that's gonna guarantee a winner and loser.

Vegas doesn't like pushes, they want even money bet on both sides so they keep 10 percent at no risk. This is why lines move, when lines go up or down it is to try to get more money wagered on the other team so an equal amount is bet on both teams. They do a good job also.

Exactly, hell that goes for all local books too. Ideally, they'll have even money bet on the games and make their money from the juice of winners. When you win, it's minus 10%, or the "juice" as it's known. So if they receive and pay even money, they're up the 10% from all winners. They will actually place bets with other books if they have to "even the field". It's pretty interesting the economics that are involved. I only know what a huge gambling pal tells me. All I know is that if I had like $50,000, it'd be a great business to get into. Illegal, but lucrative!!
