One report making the rounds had the Leafs ending talks with the Canadiens regarding Hackett when the Habs asked for feisty forward Darcy Tucker in exchange.

PAT SIGN THE DEAL NOW!!!! It looks like Montreal's management hasn't improved much if they want to make this trade.

Blame Canoe for spreading this rumor. (http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam020302/nhl_tor2-sun.html)

It's getting confusing watching these two teams. You can't tell the Habs from the Leafs. There are so many players on Montreal from Toronto!! What's one more exchange!! I agree that Quinn should make this trade if that's the cost. The downside is, if Hackett does well, does that spell the end of Cujo in TO? They CAN'T let this guy slip away. He'll go elsewhere and make a challenger out of them. PLEASE NOT ST. LOUIS!!!!!!

My friend, I will literally be in tears if Cujo is not between the pipes next year. Last night's loss to NJ was the first of, I think, many indications of what this guy means to this team.

I mean this guy had a winning record with both Anders Erikson and, the human pilon, Cory Cross playing infront of him!

That's why I'd almost be afraid of a goalie acquisition right now. I'd be nervous if they traded for anyone, including Hackett, that they'd be planning on signing the replacement and not Cujo. The market will go crazy if Cujo becomes available. St. Louis will be first in line to sign him up if it comes to that. It'll be interesting to see what happens from my standpoint, not yours. You've got too much to lose. If they let him out of Toronto, they're in trouble for a LONG WHILE!!

Did any of you guys see the Stars/Sharks game on ESPN2?...There seemed to be quite a bit of talk on how Ed "The Eagle" Belfour could be traded...I thought there was some fan chants supposedley too that weren't very favorable to Eddy...

There is two goalies on heard on ESPN and CBC (Don Cherry) where talking about that Toronto was looking at. Ron Tugnutt is the first and Mike Vernon.

Apparently Mike Vernon has said he would waive his no trade clause with Calgary to go to a Contender (Toronto). We all know what Verny can do in the playoffs.

And then there is Eddie the Eagle - word on the street is Dallas is NOT going to be resigning him after this year where he will become an unrestricted free agent. He is definetly trade bait at the March 19th trade deadline. Rumors are sending him to Philly because of their on again off again play of dual goalies Checkmanec and Boucher.

Interesting. I love it when goalies get into the mix on the trade deadline. Talk about impact players. I am kind of suprised they haven't mentioned Belfour in Toronto. I wouldn't like that move if I were a Leaf fan, but I'm not!!

I think Tugnutt could carry the load in Toronto.... but I would hate to see him be relegated to a backup when CuJo comes back... Tugger is too good not to play all the time... even if it is in Columbus on a bad team...

Local radio today was mentioning that the Leafs may not want Joseph for next year as he is getting older and CUJO is asking for a 4 year deal. Another indication is that the Leafs have not raised their offer which CUJO declined at $7.3 Million US.

I have a feeling that CUJO will not be here next year:(

If Cujo is not there next year, that will be the single biggest mistake of the Toronto Maple Leafs. This guy single handedly wins games for that team. Dumb, dumb, dumb!!! They need to lock him up long term!

This is truely an idiotic move. There is no logic in the world that would justify this "decision". If he's loose, I gotta feeling he'll be wearing a blues jersey come October. Hell, if he'll be healed by the playoffs, a trade could happen with St. Louis before the deadline. Unlikely but possible. I know the St. Louis GM is saying they wont make a move in regards to goaltending, but the availability of Cujo could change that logic real quick!!

Why wouldn't the Blues try to grab a goalie for the playoff run. They have no chance with what they have, the addition of a quality goalie at least gives them a shot.

Because their GM is bailing water right now. If he doesn't trade for a goalie and they don't win the cup, he could be about done. Quenville will be almost certainly. Their saying they won't make a move, that they'll stay the ship with what they have. They're to WIN the cup this year. Just like the last 3 years, anything less will be considered a failure.
