View Full Version : I wonder if Gary Bettman realizes that...

..The reason he thinks his league is too defensive and not enough superstars are emerging is because he watered it down with 6 more teams than he needed, thus making less talented teams have to resort to defensive styles in order to compete.

Discuss.

Well duh.
The league has WAY too many teams. I've said it before, they need to get rid of Anaheim, Tampa, Columbus, Nashville, and Atlanta.

At minimum they should eliminate Anaheim and Tampa.

I think everyone knows how I feel about Gary Buttman.;)

I don't think you'll get anyone here to disagree with you on that one. Commissioners in general are idiots. Where are the Pete Rozells of the world?

I have to admit that it's slightly embarrassing as a hockey fan to have to say that there is a team called the Mighty Ducks in our great League...To this day I think that is the most rediculous name for a hockey team team, a women's bowling team maybe...But don't try to be cute in the NHL, PLEASE AND THANK YOU!...Now they can stay in the League if they just change their name...Please??...

This is the reason they won't open up the game anytime soon. By keeping the 'neutral zone trap', and all the hacking/slashing these no talent teams can compete with Detroit, New Jersey and Colorado. If they opened up the game Washington's former record for futility would be dust (unless Tampa has already beaten it).

Sad but true. I never thought of it that way, but if you turn loose the allstars, the descrepency between the good and the bad would get to be ridiculous. I think the league should eliminate about 5 or so teams, but we all know that'll never happen. Suck it up fellas, aside from potential changes with icing and the "quickdrop" faceoffs, we're looking at the same game we'll be watching as old men.
