After this morning, I am completely done with AOL. It pissed me off beyond all believe, but anyway..
What are my other options? All I need is some sort of instant messaging crap, and the Internet.
Is there anything that comes with a cable modem?
Anyone have any suggestions???
Oh and by the way, I dont know crap about computers.

If you can get the fastest DSL available (you have to live very close to a Central Office), it can be - but it's been my experience that cable is faster.

Cable rocks!!!...I had dial-up for like five years or so until last fall when I finally ordered Road Runner cable internet...I'll never go back to dial-up again unless they do something MAJOR to make it better than cable but I don't see that happening...I'll tell you what though, do NOT go to MSN Internet, that was the $hittiest Internet I ever had...And for some stupid reason I decided to sign up for their three year contract that took like $300 off my new computer at the time...BAD IDEA and I will never sign a contract like that again!!!...First of all it was A HORRIBLE service, took forever to get a connection, there's nothing like sitting in your computer chair for five damn minutes waiting for a connection!...So after a couple of week I had had enough and went back to Best Buy to tell them to put the $300 back onto my credit card and to get me off of MSN's service...They agreed and I thought great I'll gladly pay full price for the computer just to dump THAT service!...All better right?...WRONG!...ONE YEAR LATER a bill showed up in the mail!!!...It stated that I had broken my contract so they were going to have to charge me like $320 for breaking the contract!...AHHHH!!!...Well I was going to pay it but luckily my father couldn't stand to see me get ripped off and decided to call the MSN reps and got the bill down to $120!...Nice of him but from that point on I've hated MSN with a passion...If it wasn't for my friend who said Netscape sucked (I liked it alot better but he fixed my computer and put it on) I wouldn't even be using MSN Explorer...Ok, this is making me mad all over again so I'll finish my rant now...Have a nice day guys...*LOL*...

If you have cable already installed it's just another $40 a month, and trust me it's worth the extra cost over dial-up. Broadband cable is the only way to truly enjoy the internet. Check out DSLReports like Chris mentioned because they will give you the low-down of what's good in your area.
I highly recommend cable over DSL, the babybells squashed all competition (remember Rythyms, Northpoint) and are still giving crummy service, if you can even get it. Cable's had problems, but it's the best option at the moment.
Good Luck!
