I noticed that none of the mens hockey players were present at the closing ceremonies. WTF?
I guess they're too good to mingle with the other athletes.

I guess they were all too tired, I am assuming you are talking about either the Canadian or American players??
I know if I was on that team I woulsd want to be at the closing ceremonies.

I didn't see any of the countries hockey players. But yes, I was particularly aware of the abscence of the US and Canadian men.
If I had been there, I'd have gone to the ceremonies. Hell, just to mack on some of the hot chick athletes.;)

Too funny. Hell, they probably don't go cause they'd be signing autographs from people who have gold medals and return to work at home depot Monday at 8:00am. Let's face it, they're really the only famous people in the bunch. Besides, I'm sure their teams wanted them on planes coming home before the ceremonies even started.

F*** that. They don't play til tuesday. I'd have participated. How often do you get to be a part of something like that?
What's the worst that'd happen? You get fined? Who cares?

It is true though - most all NHL players had to report back to their respecitve teams this morning. For all the Red Wings players involved, this meant chartering a plane to get them to Florida.
They can't make the opening ceremonies - can't make the closing ceremonies. We should call them Rent-an-Olympian for hockey.

That's BS! It's not like they're gonna get fired for getting back a little late.
It would have been worth whatever the fine was just to be there.
If the NHL is gonna let they're players be in the Olympics, then let them be IN the Olympics. Otherwise, they might as well have the tournament in New York for as much participation as the players had.

Exactly, I completely agree with you Tom. This is another reason why I don't see the NHL in 2006 in Italy.
