Hey P.J., what do you make of the rumors that St. Louis was watching Richter in the olympics to determine if they would make a trade to NY to get a hold of Richter?? Actually, Chris Frez told me this today, but since it came up on the last post I figured I'd get 'er rollin.

Arghhh...I hate the Richter trade rumors:mad:
Richter is the only chance the Rangers have of the playoffs. Trading him away is basically saying that management has given up on the season.
And we would need to get a goalie in return, Danny Blackburn stil has 2-3 more years until he's ready to be the starter. And the other guy Holmquist?? Well obviously hes not gonna be able to get the job done. So I really dont see the point in doing this.
I say Let Richter stay in NY until he can no longer perform like Richter.

I think New York knows that which means they would just up the asking price to something ridiculous like Pronger or something. Then they could trade for a goaltender. Hell, they could get Cujo, Toronto may (stupidly) be done with him after this year. He'd be a great grab for any team.

This rumour will never happen.

I think it's going to be an interesting trade deadline for sure. How many more years does Richters knees have? New York might want a Brent Johnson or Fred Braithwaite to build on.
Another goalie who will be unrestricted next season is Ed Belfour. Rumors are he'll be on the chopping block at the trade deadline as well.

That's another good point, Chris. It just shows you that St. Louis is looking for a quick cup and "rebuild". If they have interest in Richter, it's obviously a short-term solution. Richter's been around forever. Help me out on this P.J.; how long has he been around and what's up with his contract?

Don't be suprised if the Canes offer up Irbe or Barrasso.

It would be nice if he went to TO now that Cujo's hurt.

The Canes would love to have Gary Roberts back, so feel free to take one of our goalies. Hell they are already in Toronto.
