Okay, since I'm home sitting on my duff; I figure I can post updates for the unfortunate majority that have jobs.

The goal scorers are: Yzerman (1), Brewer (1) (this goal was changed, it was originally credited to Yzerman. He did get the assist. The Belarus goal is by their only NHLer.

Update, 3-1 Canada. Goal by Niedermeyer (dead), assisted by Lemeiux.

Anyway, I liked the first period. Good hockey, canada has of course dominated play, but their defensemen won't get the puck deep to the forwards; instead, they keep opting for the blue line blasts and are missing the net.

Update, powerplay Belarus.

I like these Belarussians, they ain't backing down.

UPdate: Oh the ref just called a bad penalty on Belarus and Harry Neale just called Canada, "The Leafs"!!!

:D

Belarus powerplay looking pretty good. By the way Jovanovski's in the box. Shots on goal 20-7 Canada, of course. Another delay call on Canada, extra skater on the ice (Mike Peca's going). Cross-checking.

Nothing on ensuing powerplay. 13:28 Goal by Kariya. 4-1 Canada. Suffice it to say this is pretty much over. I'll update after the period and game.

Hey Ken, what time is the USA Russia game? Or is it a better question to ask if it's televised?

I think CBC will cover it... 6 pm I believe, but I'll double check!

Canoe lists it as 6:15pm (http://www.canoe.ca/2002GamesSchedules/hockey_men.html)

CBC won't show the beginning of the USA vs. Russia game because... you guessed it Mario... the Men's Curling final (I figured you'd guess that my friend? ;) )

They'll join the game in progress at 7 pm, which means from the second period on. (http://www.cbc.ca/olympics/schedules/tv-schedule/feb22)

So I guess we're stuck with that damnedable CNBC... *sigh*

Okay, as long as it's a real sport their showing that's fine.

I'll tell ya, when canada invented hockey, they hit a homer. But to compare them to a band, they'd be a one hit wonder. You can't follow up hockey with CURLING????? Now that's a lame "sport".

No argument here.. Curling lacks the crushing body checks and the senseless violence to make it a true sport. It's shuffle board on ice... I don't watch my grandfather play shuffle board, why would I want to watch some loud annoying guy?

Third period underway!

Lindros scored. Nolan assisting.

6 to 1 Canada

It was a powerplay goal... Belarus had two many men on the ice because Lemeuix got one of their players yapping it up. :)
