IU respect Wayne in the utmost... but his ramblings about the world hating Canada and stuff is a bunch of BS.
Canada *IS* underachieving right now. They deserve some critisism because the SHOULD be the best team.

Okay, I just read the article. What a joke. Man is Gretzky a cry baby. What does he think? the world should root for Canada? Sorry moron, we've got our own countries to root for. They should kick his sorry arse out of Utah and make him watch it at home on CBC!! How about Quinn?? Threatening retribution when the NHL play resumes. Since when do Canadians care about their day jobs that pay their salaries (in American dollars I might add)?? I thought it was all about show casing your skills to make the national team and choke on a medal opportunity. Man does that piss me off. Again, how did Quinn get that job anyway?? Or Gretzky for that matter?? Two morons ruining their teams reputation!!
How many people do you hear crying about the vicious hit by Vladimir Malakov on Tkachuk that took him out of play? Is Fleury injured?? Can he not play? Maybe the canadians could learn something about sportsmanship from the Americans!!

I think he said that to fire up the team. He's trying to give them an "us against the world" mentality.

I think he just misses crying on a regular basis since his retirement. I just watched the interview on cbc, what a joke. He's basically telling all canadians to kill hamerlik when the rangers play the islanders next week.

That rant, as distasteful as it was, was meant for the 20 guys who put on the Canada jerseys and take to the ice. Apparently there's been a lot of back biting going on in the locker room.
example: Hey Pronger, try passing to someone with a Maple Leaf on his jersey!
This is to quell that, I think Gretz was hoping for a busier newsday so the American media wouldn't pick it up.
Sorry Gretz, you got some 'splainin to do!

I don't know. On the ice the guy was brilliant, off the ice I don't think he's clever enough to think of something like that. Another example of a player's reputation getting him into something he's not fit for after retirement. Gretz should be like a queen, point, smile and waive, just don't talk: you'll ruin everything.

Agreed! You don't hear Gordie Howe saying anything near that stupid. Let Pat Quinn put his foot in his, as he has done so often, and leave Gretz be the goodwill embassador of hockey... not for Canada.

Not to defend Gretzky here, I think he is dead wrong... but Gordie Howe has had his fair share of sad moments as well...
The whole Detroit Viper thing was a farce. The jealousy he showed when #99 broke his scoring record... the list goes on...

Gorde is the man, but let's face it, he can't take a crap without a permission slip from Coleen. And in comparison, Gretzky could be a nuclear physicist in comparison.
