Man, some great action today. USA looked real good against the ballarina's or whoever they are (what is a bellarussian??). Anyway how about the fins defeating the russians? I also thought the czecks looked good. Canada got lucky on that last goal. I think the Canadians are gonna choke. hehe. Sorry Ken!!
Thank God for Lemiuex eh?
By the way, how did Quinn get to be Canada's coach?? What has he done?

I caught two of the games yesterday.
USA vs Bellarus - how good does Team USA look this Olympic year?? Daaaaamn! The Modano - Hull - LeClair line is just On FIRE!
I've watched two of Team Canada's games so far as well - Friday when they got pummeled by Sweden, and last nights game against the Czech Republic. Canada looked MUCH better and were really flying and hitting last night. I afraid to say it, but Martin Broduer has got to be their starting goaltender if they are gonna go far in the Tournament.
What's up with cheap shot on Theo Fleury at the end of the game as well - that cross-check in the back damn near snapped his neck!

Oh please, you didn't see him sprawled on top of Hasek while shots were coming in?? He was laying on top of him spread eagle and wouldn't move. If that player hadn't cross-checked him, I think Dom would have cut his head off with his stick. They say Dom was insanely pissed when he got off the ice last night. Besides, I don't think that the little ball of drunk was as hurt as he was hamming it up for the officials.
I'll tell you something else, I'll be the first guy to ***** about the refs but in the olympics they've done a great job so far from what I've seen.

Regardless - I'm not a fan of Fleury at all, but that was a vicious cross-check.

That cross-check was well-deserved. You ALWAYS protect your goalie.
Little Theo will think twice before he does that again.
Team USA is really rolling. I like our chances.
Sweden looks really good out there too. Sundin is having a fantastic tournament.

I totally agree with you. He's not injured. Gretzky wants Hamerlik banned from ever wearing ice skates again!!

I agree... Sundin looks DOMINATING on the ice right now!

Fleury is team Canada's answer to Darcy Tucker.... Attention Mr. Quinn, you are not coaching the Toronto Maple Leafs! :(
Sweden (thanks to Mr. Sundin) is looking awesome, as is team USA. While Canada, Russia, and the Czech's are not playing up to snuff. Finland is a wild card, they were playing solid defence against the Russians, I didn't think they had it in them.
Now it gets down and dirty. Either Czech or Russia will be gone after they play each other, with Sweden and USA walking over their competition. As for Canada vs. the Finns, you have to pick Canada. The team is starting to gel (no thanks to Gretz' motivational speechs :( ), and they have a hate for the Finns after the embarassment at Nagano.
Happy watching! :)

Again, why Pat Quinn? What the hell has he done. You could justify almost any coach in the leaugue but Quinn?? Why does he know how to win? What's he won. I hate his coaching style and furthermore Ken, the leafs and team canada would be better off without that idiot.

The man has won 3 Jack Adams awards (Philly, Vancouver, Toronto), but never touched the cup. If I remember rightly, he's the winningest play-off coach to never hold Lord Stanley's Grail.
I would pick Scotty, of course, or another coach that would have set up some kind of system for these guys to play. Quinn has them going out there without any focus and it shows badly.

Coac-of-the-year is awarded for regular season results. All his 3 awards mean is that his teams won a lot of games, and then choked when it came to crunch time.
Remember, Barry Melrose won a Jack Adams trophy too.:p

Good point, I wouldn't have remembered that. I think that Quinn and Gretzky are two of the bigger problems with team canada.

As a Leafs fan just making the play-offs makes me happy! :)
Barry Melrose... bring back the Mullet!

This is bringing up an interesting new topic; should Pat Quinn be on the chopping block??
