I caught this on TechTV and damn was I impressed, when they get this up and running NHL.com is going to rock all the other sports sites the way hockey rocks all other sissy-assed sports!
NHL Teams With Sun (http://www.techtv.com/news/culture/story/0,24195,3369356,00.html)
Team- and game-tracking options will become more advanced, allowing the players' and the puck's coordinates to be streamed over the Internet. That will be implemented using Java and tiny transmitters carried by players and implanted into the puck.
I wish I could find video for this because it was so cool to see the demo.

I wish they would put Mics on some of the players, and make it so that I can hear it on my computer. UN-EDITED.
I think that would be interesting, especially If they wired up a mic on Fleury:)

Hmmm... sensors in the pucks? Sounds like more of that BS like the Fox "Glow Puck". The players all said that those pucks played differently from the normal ones. Plus, if one got shot into the crowd, you weren't allowed to keep it.
F*** the NHL. Well.... mostly F*** Gary Buttman, and all his stupid F***ING ideas to "improve" the game.:mad::mad:
God I really hate that sonova*****!

NHL skates into Web-services rink (http://www.cnn.com/2002/TECH/ptech/01/26/nhl.sun.partner.idg/index.html)
The companies demonstrated a hockey game being streamed live to a wireless handheld device. Another option they showed was to watch a representation of a game in real-time, with the ability to track play and chat with fellow fans and experts.
Forget about that glowing puck crap that Fox did, these sensors on the puck and players will let you watch the game on-line in real time. This will be most cool!

Exactly - that's the first thing I thought. The players ALWAYS complained when they had to play with those pucks because they weren't allowed to freeze the pucks, which caused em to jump all over the ice.
