The Canes captain will play in his 1000th game for the organization on Wed. He has 499 career goals. He leads the NHL in power play points and assists, he just keeps getting it done.

Yeah... Ron Francis is one of those consistant guys. You never heard much about him, because he never put up huge numbers. But he always played well. Often, he was overshadowed by teammates, like Lemieux and Jagr in Pittsburgh.
I really thought he was washed up a few years ago when the Canes signed him. But I guess I was wrong.

It also goes to show that anyone can score 500 goals in a career... as long as they play for 50 years. ;);)

If Ronnie scores his 500th goal, he will be only the fifth player in NHL history to have scored 500 goals and have over 1000 assits. Messier is the only active player out there who is on that list, which includes old number 99, Gordie howe and somebody else, i can't think of who.
