Rathje signs 4 year deal with sharks

Late last night the deal was finally completed ending Rathje's holdout. The 4 year deal worth 8.25 million gives the Sharks the longevity they had haggled over. He is expected to play in about a week. Only able to carry seven healthy defensemen, the sharks gm Dean Lombardi, may have to chose between Scott Hanan and Jeff Jillson being the only two who can be sent down to the minors without clearing waivers. Jillson who's development plan was altered after Rathje began his 25 game holdout. Jillson has played well outside of a few rookie mistakes and could now be sent down.

Rathje made 1.1 last year.
