I know I haven’t posted much here, but I have a question for all hockey fans.

Here is my situation:
I have a friend that I’ve know since the 9th grade of High School, we are both 34 years old now, and he has always been an Islander Fan. Well as we all know, the Islanders went through a very rough period, and he stopped watching hockey.

I think it was 1996, he started to get back into hockey, but this time he started watching the team I’VE followed, the NY Rangers! I have been a hockey fan since the 1980 Olympics, when I and the rest of the Country watched the USA kicked some Russian butt and also that winter, my family had gotten Cable. It was then I found the Madison Square Garden channel, and as you guessed it, I found NY Rangers Hockey.

My friend has become Mr. Ranger since then. , He has apologized to EVERY Ranger Fans he knows about what he said about the Rangers. He has even gone as far as selling ALL Islander Collectibles he owned and replaced them with Ranger Collectibles.

My question to all the good people of this site is, would you accept him as a Ranger Fan?

I disagree. Sounds like the old bandwagon is rolling in. Strange timing though since now the islanders don't suck like they have since they won 5. Reminds me of all those losers wearing Cowboys jackets in the 80's. Now I think they're all wearing Red wings jackets.

If he ever liked the islanders wouldn't the Rangers be the ultimate enimy? That should be the last team he gets turned onto.
I could never see myself turning into a Av's fan. Ever.

Real fans stick with their teams.

I love to watch the Red Wings, I mean, Detroit's All-Star Team ;) , but I'll always be a Leafs fan, sadly, and when the fateful day comes when the Leafs get balanced scoring, defence that doesn't leak like a sieve, with Cujo's kid playing goal and they win the Cup... it'll all be worth it. Or so I keep telling myself! :D

I'm still reluctant calling him a Ranger Fan.

I still think deep down inside, he's still watching and rooting for the Islanders.

Oh yeah, the Islanders are the ultimate enemy, I hate even typing that teams name out.

It's just SO strange watching a game, him coming over and high giving me when the Rangers score, it just doesn't feel right, know what I mean?

It's like if a Met fan would suddenly start watching and liking the Yankees

die met fan!! hehe. See now I've grown up in Detroit my whole life. My family is from NY and I've always been a Yankee fan. I would never root for the Tigers (not that there's anything to root for), and hell, I grew up here. I'll always be a wings fan (even when it's not cool like now where wings fans are crawling out of the woodwork). That's one of the problems with sports is the "whoring of teams and players". It justifies that crap when there's "whoring of fans" going on. It's like Ken said (in so many words), if your team sucks, grin and bear it; they'll be back, hell look at the blackhawks. Not to change the subject but since they stole the beavers, er leafs (so much for no more ethnic slurs) kidding ken, we need chicago not to suck.

To prove to be a true Ranger Fan...He should donate all proceeds from all the Isles stuff that he is selling off to one of the Ranger Children's Charities.
