A U.S. based Wall Street buyout firm and a sports advisory company have put together a proposal to buy all 30 NHL teams for just over $100 million U.S. a team - a total of more than $3 billion U.S. for the entire league, reports the Globe and Mail.

While I am sure that some teams *cough* *nashville* *cough* would jump at the deal, the richer teams would not get nearly as much for their team as they would at the open market. The Leafs and Wings alone could go for $500 million each, that's not to suggest that either is worth that, but those are two franchises that billionaires desire, and a bidding war would surely ensue.

An interesting development, I doubt these Boston bankers have the good of the game in mind.
