I know all hockey players want to be in on the action, and the leaders in particular want to go out there and set an example for the team... but for goodness sakes.. if you are injured.. keep your 70-80% ass off the ice!
I remember TML two years ago going against the Canes with freaking 8 AHLers. The boys on the farm won Game 1, and in Game 2 four of the regulars come back (early) to play in the series and the Leafs only won once in the next five games (Darcy Tucker's OT goal in game 5. who is the exception to this rule because he plays on emotion not skill).
This year Joe Thorton and Saku Koivu both played injured.. and both have been eliminated. On the Leafs, Sundin and Neuwendyk are playing injured, and it looks like they are about to go in 6.
I say let the team's depth take over in the play-offs, and let the injured stars rest until they can play the game with some impact. If they can't be a force on the ice, then why bother playing them?
