You wing fans are all smiley and smug because your team just went out and bought the next cup. Oh yeah!!! well guess what you try walking up to the Joe Louis arena and buying a ticket for that nights game. HA!!! Well smarty boys, I can walk up to the united centre and buy about 18,000 tickets for that nights game, SO HA!!! (except for when the wings are in town then all you jerkys show up and actually pack the place). I can get the nose bleed seats and sneak all the way down to the glass. Actually I don't need to sneak because nobody is there, nobody cares. So instead of my nose bleeding I get to watch Probies nose bleed after Macarty pounds the old washed up has been. I bet every hawk player could beat your best wing player in 18 holes. while your butthead team is playing into late spring early summer my hawks are busy mastering the game of golf. Do I sound bitter? WELL I AM!!!

Loser.

Wings got exactly what they needed this year plus some extras. I think they're takin the cup this year and that's a plus for me and all Red Wings fans. And whoever says they're buying the cup is absolutely out of their minds. Sorry if your team is terrible.

You say the wings went out and got what the needed and then some right. Well you mean they bought what they needed. I don't know why you get angry if someone says they are trying to buy the cup. The wings had a decent team last year but they didn't win the cup. Last years team wouldn't win the cup this year either. However, because they went out and BOUGHT three great players I feel they will win the cup One of the things the Lackhawks spent money on is a mascot. If you know anything about the Lackhawks you would know that the owner Dollar Bill Wirtz is the richest owner in all of hockey. The man could buy the wings franchise 3X over. Do the hawks get anybody that will help them (Klem, Korelov and Thomas) I think not. Now that's frustrating.

That was a good point about the tigers. However Im a huge Sox fan and they had a terrible year. I do hate the cubs and bears. i am a dolphins fan. HOW BOUT THEM DOLPHINS!!!?

The Wings are committed to winning the cup, and they will try to get the best players. So what? Besides, spending money on salaries doesn't necessarily equal winning a cup. The Rangers spend more on salaries than just about any other team and they haven't brought the cup home since '94.

Well let me ask you this HOW DO YOU BUY A CUP ?

If your saying that spending MONEY to better your team will get them the CUP ~ YOUR WAYYYYYYYYYYYY OFF.

Take my team. We have the HIGHEST PAYROLL in hockey and we cant even get to the PLAYOFFS ( till this year ).
The wings ( and I dont like them ) Are trying to get the cup and so are all of the other teams.

I bet if your team had the money to spend , They would have done the same thing ~ Huh Huh Huh YES THEY WOULD HAVE.

If they is any only way of getting the cup ( A SURE FIRE WAY ) PLEASE let me know.

NOTHING IS WRITTEN ON THE CUP TILL YOU WIN.

I still dont see BUYING the CUP. I see spending your payroll on players that will help your team get to the playoffs.

As Leaf fan, I'm just happy the ownership is keeping the team competitive by acquiring top of the line talent to be completely honest. Living through the '80s were the Leafs managed to squeek there way to the play-offs once in a while (I believe the Leafs hold the record for making the play-offs with the least amount of points (53) in an 80 game season - my numbers may be off slightly), it's now nice to talk of them in the same breath as New Jersey and Philly without laughter following.

So I'm encouraged that Detroit is also keeping their team competitive by nabbing these free-agents. I hope the NHL will not reached baseball's level of the haves vs the have nots, but I guess 2004 will decide that.

I would also like to point out that Bill Wirtz (Hawks owner) has the money to put into a competitive team...he just chooses not to. He still believes that televised home games will hurt ticket sales so fans here either have to spend money to see a sub-par product or listen to it on AM radio. Wirtz is not the richest owner, but he certainly has the funds to put a winning product on the ice. Being from the Chicago area I was a big fan of the Hawks...until ownership turned it's back on the fans.
By the way...IMO this is not the proper place for this discussion being a Wings (yuck lol) forum.
