Last nights game was the FIRST of the season as Colorado hosted Detroit. Lots of end to end action in the first period alone! When Colorado went up 2-0 in the first couple of minutes in the game I was definetly thinking this would not be a good game. Detroit came back and tied it - then in the last 2 seconds of the 3rd period Colorado commits 2 high sticking penalties, both assessed at 4 minutes a piece. The high stick that Adam Foote put on Yzerman in the last second at the friggin face off was totally uncalled for. Yzerman had to leave the game bloodied - later receiving 8 stitches, 1 tooth knocked out and 3 more teeth damaged.

Detroit went on a 5 on 3 Powerplay in OT and won it in less than a minute on a great Brett Hull patented slap shot for the far point.

That was an awesome game. Patrick Roy wouldn't have let in those goals, but thankfully he's gone! The hit that Forsberg put on Whitney was a good one. That Peter Worrell is one HUGE dude! 6'7' and 235 to 250 lbs is someone I would be watching out for. I thought Maltby drew a penalty late in the 3rd when the goalie for the Avs froze the puck, the ref blew the whistle and Malts got blasted out of the crease by a defenceman that was clearly a late hit. No call. But the Yzerman high stick was painful just to watch. We were just talking about all the high sticks too.
