I'd like to get the calendar cleared up as soon as we can and start promoting our upcoming events.

Here's what we agreed to:
Racing:
Grand Bend - I didn't see a date on the calendar so I don't know about the reservation?? We'll bill this as our charity event and ask George if he still wants to sponsor. (We could do a food or clothing drive - bring X and get a $xx discount on admission?)

Royal Pontiac Invitational - Tom, I forgot to mention this but this could be a "no brainer". They are hosting an Invitational race at Milan for any other car clubs that want to join. Date is Oct 25th and it is a private track rental. Last year it was Royal, the Buick Club and the Impala Club.

Other Events:
Nick, what do you think?
Woodward
Livernois Dyno Day
Christmas Party and charity drive

Anything else? What do you guys need (Tom - Nick) from the rest of us??

I like the charity ideas. Since the one date is for October I would suggest perhaps a coat drive for children. It will be getting close to winter time and its nice to provide new coats for some of the underpriveldge kids in the area. You can pick up a coat at k-mart/wallmart for around $10-15 dollars. Cash would also work and I could go out and purchase the coats from the club as well. The other option is can goods. I know the Clarkston Football team does a Rush for Food where they collect can goods from people and help restock the local food pantry. I'm sure there are plenty of food pantries that we could help.

The Christmas Party should be started to get planned as soon as possible. It would be nice to have the event scheduled early in December so we can do a toys drive for kids. I know the Lighthouse collects toys for Christmas and Mark and I have donated to them in the past. There is also toys for tots that the bikers always donate to. That would be another option.

I would be more than happy to volunteer to organize the collection of coats/toys for each. I hope the rest of the club will be interested in giving. It would really put a positive spin on the club.

The one thing we'll want to keep an eye out on is the M-8 event which is going to be Oct 25th up at Stanton. I don't think we want to split the racing public up if we can finda away around it and have a club presences at all these events.

You know, we were originally supposed to have a Speedworks dyno day too. Maybe we could throw that in the fall timeframe like early October or something. It wouldn't be very fair if we did Livernois and not Speedworks.

I can contact greg or phil to see if they are interested, but i don't think that we could get 2 dyno days off the ground that close together, i guess i'm kinda leary that one of the 2 would probably flop.. I am going to make the livernois one more definate, but i guess i'm fearing a bad turnout.. just seems like not enough interest, but i could be wrong..

I have to agree with Nick. Two dyno-days that close together would likely not work. All the people who dyno at the first one won't want to go spend another $50 to dyno again. And the few people who might miss the first one, are invariably the same ones who would miss a second one as well.

I agree that it would be tough to pull off two dyno days this late in the season.

Perhaps the only marketing ploy would be if Livernois has a Dynojet. That would provide some perspective with APE and Speedworks running the Mustangs which might spark enough curosity to come back to Speedworks in early October.

We should probably go with Livernois since Rick has helped get the shop interested and it will show them the club and spark their interest in sponsoring us next year. We also want to show our well rounded approach with the three main shops.

I'm sure Greg and Phil won't have any problems with it and if there is enough interst later on, it should not be a big deal to setup a third day if we can find 20 or more cars.

I think that Phil and Greg wouldn't mind just having an open house either without the dyno. I'm in favor of whatever everyone else wants.

Open House or a quickie car show. The first place winner gets to wash Harlans Car to show him how it's done. :D
