Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:
Has Ted Arneault come up with the biggest save in Penguins history? Arneault runs the Mountaineer Racetrack and Gaming Resort in Chester, W.Va. and is prepared to give $60 million towards the cost of a new arena for the franchise, multiple Pittsburgh newspapers reported June 25. The Penguins are expected to contribute $47.7 million and Pens president Ken Sawyer said the $60 million from Arneault would bridge the gap for the $108 million the team was asked to fund by the Sports & Exhibition Authority. The complex is expected to cost $278 million and the goal is to have it ready for the 2006-07 NHL season. "This is a wonderful opportunity to spur economic development in northeast Allegheny County, while also spurring economic development Downtown," Arneault told the Tribune-Review.
