The canes haven't been playing well lately, and the defending champs are coming to town tonight. I know the Wings are down some men, but they are still gonna be a tough opponent.
If the Canes can generate some offense and shut down the Wings forwards, they should do well. Of course, that's a lot to ask for given the way they have played lately.

An predictions?

I'm looking forward to this as well :) One of my fondest Stanley Cup finals memories is the 3rd OT goal by Larianov in last years finals :)

Offense is clicking for the Wings, defense is struggling just a tad while we are still working out communication problems with Cujo in net and our new young Defense corps.

Looking forward to this one tonight - is Irbe gonna start??

I doubt Irbe will start tonight's game. I am sure that management is still seething off that incredibly soft goal he let in Wednesday night against Vancouver. I think Weekes will start. He is back home where he had a tremendous series of games during the 9 game home stand. We got a point out of all those gmaes if i remember correctly, 13 out of a possible 18 i think?

The Canes will have to play a tight game if they hope to win tonight. Everything will have to click, including our power play. And they can't give up stupid penalties like they did against Vancouver.

Game over, Canes WIN!!!!!!!!!!! What an awesome game. The canes scored 5 power play goals!! And we are awful on the pp.

Looks like Weekes got a concussion, he left the game and Irbe got the 'W' which he needed. Weekes will be out for at least a week, according to the radio guy Chuck kaiton. Looks like the Canes will have to call up Pelletier to back Irbe.

What a wild and crazy game to say the least. Absolutely no defense whatsoever - that was thown out the window completely.

Canes wanted it more last night and they got it.

Canes were unbelievable at getting good positioning on the Powerplay last night - taking advantage of the big defensive lapses, miscues and bad positioning of the Wings (remember, the Wings came in to this game in the Top 5 in the league in penalty killing AND Power play %).

Good things to take away from this game - Wings are still deadly 4 on 4 and Zetterberg continues to amaze in his rookie year.

I didn't see any of this game but I read that the Canes powerplay went 5 for 9. Maltby pushed Hedican into the goalie Weeks and gave him a concussion. One diving penalty was called but I heard there were a few more that could have been. When they call a diving penalty, it should be the lone call, not a coincidental even-it-up situation. I'd like to see more call or fines on the players whining after a penatly. Maybe a crying towel award or something. Anyway, Carolina worked harder and controlled the puck more than the Wings and deserved the win.
