I'm not sure if this is more Ottawa Sun wishful thinking about the Senators, or if this deal could become a reality.

Somehow I think it's the former, unless Ottawa offers Dallas a deal they can't refuse.

Al Strachan mentioned on HNIC that he's heard rumors of Ottawa offerring Alfredson in exchange for Nieuwendyk, and that the deal may happen sometime after each club has played 10 games. Apparently, the Stars are worried about Alfredson's previous injuries acting up.

I guess we'll find out, but Strachan stating this is a good indication that there's something up.

I just read a blurb on ESPN.com as well that said "If the Dallas Stars are truly willing to move Joe Nieuwendyk, they will find a taker in the Ottawa Senators". Who knows - maybe it'll happen?
