Ok. Was flipping through an early hockey mag last weekend and there was a blurb about Bowman employing his new "torpedo" offense of 4 back-checking forwards and a offensive-defenseman in an effort to literally ambush opposing teams at different points throughout a game.
Has there been any other talk of this tactic outside of the Sporting News article I've read? I'm a Wings fan stuck in the bowels of Pittsburgh looking for some good info :)
Thanks!

From what I read it is a style that is played in Sweden. Now that the Dominator is in the MotorCity we have a goalie that allows a riskier approach. Hopefully works well for us.
Go Wings!

The last I read on this was they are pretty much scrapping this idea. Because this style is played in Sweden, the rinks are bigger and they don't feel they would be able to adapt this system to an NHL size rink.
I'm sure Scotty will have something up his sleeve though - he always does :)

They should use the hawks strategy. Suck and you don't need a strategy. BRILLIANT!!! The other optional strategy is the one were the Hawks put everyone to sleep. The fans, the players, the coaches, the announcers, the beer guy (notice beer "guy" , they only need one beer man for the three fans that show up to the U.C. YAWN!!! The hawks s T r a t EG y...... Darth you say that you are stuck in Pittsburgh. My girl and I are going to the Wings - Penns game on March 2nd. We have never been in Piitsburgh before and would like to know if we should just come in for the game or if there are other cool things to do in the Burgh? We are probable going to stay across the street from the Igloo, just as a reference point for you. Any info would be great. Thanks.
