Rumor has it that the Canes are Yotes are talking about a trade Sami Kappanen for Shane Doan. Sami is a big fan favorite but this might be a good trade for the Canes and Phoenix.

Cane,

I know Sami was getting a lot of flak for his lack of production in the play-offs (although in the Leafs series it just seemed like he wasn't getting the bounces). Do you think that has something to do with this proposed trade?

Although Sami had a playoff season to forget, I don't think that is what it is about but a desire to get bigger up front to generate more goals. The Canes main problem the last few years has been an inability to score goals. This could all be just sports radio talk. The Canes main off season concerns are resigning Francis ( a mere formality ), Hedican ( a major concern ), and locking up Oneil ( a RFA that should be doable ).

With all the superstars that left Phoenix (JR and Tkchuck) - Shane Doan has been THE MAN there. I don't think Phoenix would trade him for Kapanen.

Looks like Kapanen had the best year of his career this year with 27 goals - then tanked in the playoffs. It wouldn't happen to be a contract year, is it :) (ala Marty LaPointe last year).
