The Oilers need a new captain this season since Weight was traded. My personnel choice would be Jason Smith. He shows leadership and is one of the older players on the team, being young as they are. Wouldn't it be something if Jason Smith was captain considering the Oilers got him for only two draft choices from the Maple Leafs.

Jason would be a very good choice for Captain...he's got great leadership quatlities on and off the ice, and he's just overall great for this club. Personally i think the C will go to Ryan Smyth. I think he'd be a good choice, maybe not as good as Jason, but a good choice nonetheless.

I think Jason Smith will get. Ryan Smyth is only 25 and won't be 26 until February. With the team being young as it is, I think it's better if Jason Smith is captain. Let Ryan Smyth concentrate on scoring. It would be a lot of pressure on a young player to be captain of possibly the youngest team in the league.:D

That's very true in it's sence. I shouldn't be making this comparison but does Steve Yzerman ring a bell? Became Captain of the Red Wings at 21. It's not a matter of if Smyth can handle it, it's does he want to handle it, cause i agree the pressure will be enourmous. We will have a great team no matter who get's the C though.
